D-Day Arrives - Mr Hepatitis Starts to Quake

Well just over an hour to go until the Interferon goes on the offensive, I can almost feel Mr Hepatitis shaking with fear. Its all his own fault, as a dear friend is fond of saying, never leave a man with nothing to lose.

Time and work permitting I’ll try and update over the next few days exactly how I’m feeling and how it all goes.

36 hour Update:

Well, so far so good. First injection went smoothly, more on that later, but not too bad is the all round verdict.

So far feel pretty good, a little like you had been out the night before, a good night out but not a mad one :) Didn’t sleep very well but thats been the case for a number of months and to be honest the sleep when you are tired lifestyle seems to suit me.

On the down side my face seemed to dry up overnight, so much so that the wife has taken to calling me the singing detective! Been a bit hyper for most of the day, good in a way as it enabled me to get caught up with some work that I hadn’t been able to concentrate on. Paying for it now a little though and feeling pretty washed out, but happy!

So….36 hours in from first interferon injection…a few aches, feel generally a bit heavy, face is flaking like a good un but all in all very pleased. Obviously sides hit different people in different ways so this may not be typical but if you are faced with the prospect of treatment just remember it may not be as bad as you have been expecting. Also bear in mind that I am working from home, if I need to lie down then I just do, I feel for those who have to work through it all, that really is tough.

Oh and when you wake up it may feel like somebody is lying on top of you, somebody really big :)

And oh part two, killed a few million of those nasty Hep C interlopers in the meantime!

60 Hour Update:

Well still pretty good I would say, maybe 8/10. Been quite tired today and have slept a lot. Got some E45 cream for my flakey face which is helping! Still eating very well, had a box of organic fruit and veg delivered today, nice service.

A few million more Hep C interlopers dead!

100 Hour [and a bit] Update:

Well what a shitty day! Dog rough and been in bed all day.

Started at about the 80 hour mark, known as the time the pegasys has its second peak, and has continued from there. Now lets be honest, feeling rough ain’t the end of the world by any means and, as my friends in the North would say, you just have to grit your teeth and get on with it.

Physically down to 6.5/10, mentally still 11/10.

I must confess to a little weepiness today too but I think that is more likely the new audio book I got. Although Alan Bennett is an excellent writer [excellent doesn’t really do it justice] a lot of his work has an undercurrent of despair and a clawing, nagging, loneliness. Talking heads [the first one] was not really the best choice for today!

Oh and BTW, saying “only 47 1/2 weeks to go” will not make you feel any better :)

A few million more Hep C interlopers dead!

150 Hour [and a bit] Update:

Well a real bad couple of days, been a bit like a zombie today and have felt generally rough all round.

Thats the first week nearly over, just 47 more left to go :)

On the good news side its not all bad, I haven’t felt like I was dieing or anything just not_quite_alive :) So don’t let me put you off getting treatment. Once again the most important thing you can do pre-treatment is to get stuff sorted, get bills paid and stuff like that, just make sure that you can give as near to 100% focus towards the treatment that you can.

I’m lucky in a way, I have stage 6 liver damage [there is no 7 ;)] so for me to an extent this is shit or bust, that gives a certain strength of purpose and a feeling that there is no turning back, its 48 weeks or bust.

So the verdict on the first week….bad but not as bad as I expected, still moving forward, still kicking viral ass. The most important thing is that a few million more hep c bad boys have been terminated.

Looking forward to tomorrows interferon injection, or as I like to think of it, calling in reinforcements.

Oh and BTW, saying “only 47 weeks to go” will make you feel a little bit better :)

Keep the faith.

still on a learning curve, loads of fluids; water, clear fruits, cranberry, apple etc all seem to help but hey the toilet trips increase.
i do my jab on friday evenings with some paracetamol/codeine tabs about an hour before that seems to not the stuffing out of the symtoms feel like poo for a couple of hours on saturday morn but after that i have a reasonable week. normally get a few lows around 2pm most days food normally sorts that out..
the one major problem i have is bruising around injection sites altho not sore, are you finding the same problem?.

    Thanks m8.

Not really, I just get a rash, the one from 2 and a bit weeks ago is faint but still there, it looks a bit like a chemical burn. Not sore or anything but I’ve not had to stab a needle in there yet.

I’m working hard with the diet too, jusy have one rule really…nothing from a packet[almost]. Trying to eat 5 small meals a day but with preperation and eating that can swallow up a large chunk of time. Best thing I have done is get an organic fruit and veg boxed delivered once a week, its great not knowing what you will get and working with it, takes some of the boredom out of what is a very bland diet.
Only 46 more weeks to go :)

    Keep the faith.

ADVICE-If you develop eye problems, stop the treat ment.
Soon after I started Interferon/Ribaviran treatment I developed red, swollen, tired, irritated eyes. I stopped treatment after about 5 months and I still have the same eye problems. If I would have known my problems were gonna be permanent I would have stopped right away.
I don’t know what I’m gonna do now.

    Pre-paid Credit Repair builds credit

If you are having difficulty with your credit score and rating, or having a hard time getting a credit card you might want to consider a pre-paid card. Nowadays it is virtually impossible to purchase anything without a credit card. Lenders today are of…
