Somebody Has An ALT Score of 60

That somebody is me!

That is my lowest ever recorded level after being stuck stubbornly in the 70/80’s for the duration of treatment. Although it doesn’t really mean that much from a medical perspective, the levels can bounce around somewhat on treatment, I’m going to take it as good news.

ALT, an enzyme appears in liver cells, with lesser amounts in the kidneys, heart, and skeletal muscles, and is a relatively specific indicator of acute liver cell damage. When such damage occurs, ALT is released from the liver cells into the bloodstream.

Mouth guard in, biting down, round 2, lets go!

Fight one more round. When your arms are so tired that you can hardly lift your hands to come on guard, fight one more round. When your nose is bleeding and your eyes are black and you are so tired that you wish your opponent would crack you one on the jaw and put you to sleep, fight one more round - remembering that the man who always fights one more round is never whipped.

    I’m just finishing up on week 48 of the pegasys treatments. I wish I had found this sight months ago. I thought all the weird stuff that happened to me was just me being off the wall. I’m glad I wasn’t just going funny.

    Entering week 10 of pegasysi/ribovaring treatment. Not having fun at all. Depressionis the worst of my symptoms.Probably the worst six months to choose to under go treatement. Just informed that I have to take a concentrated course through work in 6 weeks to advance my career. What is very heavy on my mind is what are the chances of sustained viral response if I end treatemtn after 12 weeks. my specialist says he has two patients that have had S.V.R. for one year after taking treatment for 12weeks. I know it is a role of the dice -but franky feel that cointinued treatment will affect my career as i feel I should be put in a rubber room many days..Does any one have any thoughtr or history on this “thought” ?Cal

    Hi Cal, good advice from Carol as per usual.

    My 2 cents…

    “Probably the worst six months to choose to under go treatement.”

    Everybody says that but the reality is that there isn’t really ever a good time, once you get through your course and get promoted you will have a whole other set of challenges and again you will have “Probably the worst six months to choose to under go treatement.”. I would be intersted in your stats, genotype, viral load, liver damage, age, sex [as in gender not how often :)] and weight; I think you need to know all of that before you can make anywhere near an informed choice.

    Let me leave you with this quote;

    You cannot run away from a weakness; you must sometimes fight it out or perish. And if that be so, why not now, and where you stand.
