Beam Me Up Scotty

It was a perfect Christmas time morning, the snow had fallen which just added to the xmas vibe so the right thing to do seemed to be to start a snowball fight with the Daughter. Old age must have caught up with me as I tweaked my back, just a muscle strain I think which would have gone away with some rest. Unfortunately the wife made an unflattering comparison between the size of my nose and the carrot we had used for the snowman, to which any right thinking man would respond by threatening to “spoon” her head until she retracted said slur. Now spooning is under-rated, it involves attacking the head with a spoon as if it were an ice cream, the spooning action leads to almost instant submission. As I moved in for the kill the wife kicked out which resulted in me taking evasive action that a young Bruce Lee would have been proud of….the result being that I have *really* put my back out now.

I believe that no experience in life is wasted as long as you learn from it, let me share what I have learnt.

1. Little girls are very sneaky in a snowball fight.

2. With the possible exception of a pulled stomach muscle nothing effects every action of your body like a back strain.

3. If you are going to spoon somebody use at least a tablespoon to put some distance between you and the victim, a teaspoon just leaves you too open to a counter attack.

4. The time when you really need to go in to town and buy a walking stick is the time you will be least able to do so.

5. Sometimes you just don’t know whether to laugh or cry but either one is going to make your back hurt.

    Hi HepC Boy

So you had a good Christmas day then. I am hoping you received more for Christmas than just a bad back, HepC Boy.

Wishing you peace, health and happiness in 2006.
    Ron

    hah…

i took our little one for her first sleigh ride today, she’s only 1, but loved it! but i also put my back in a bit of trouble shovelling snow. We’ve got like 1ft of it here, and it just keeps coming.

Totally snowed in, thank god the relatives didnt drink all the beer!

What snow! Shame about your back. He he. Spooning sounds more painful though!

Thanks for the 2006 thoughts Ron and right back at you.

    >received more for Christmas than just a bad back

Not a great deal more, mainly face creams and deodorants, maybe there is a hint there :)

You too with the back Nick! Seems about 50% of the guys I know tweaked there back over xmas, must all be getting old.

    >Spooning sounds more painful though!

It is teddy but the pain is shorter lasting. I think its important in a relationship that you keep you word, for richer for poorer, sickness and in health, take that back about my nose or you get the spoon….all the same to me ;)

Glad you had a good Christmas Hep C Boy. Hope you back gets better soon. Thanks again for your insight, you have been right on when it comes to my experience. I hope you have a good new year. I am taking shot 3 this afternoon so will probably sleep til the afternoon of the 1st. These last couple of days of week 2 have been rough. I had a rerun of last Friday with nausea and diarrhea all day again yesterday. I did feel well enough this Sat morning to coach my basketball team, but I still cannot eat. Thank you and Happy New Year to all ! Keeping the Faith !

  6. Hep C Boy Says:

    Hey Jimmy!

Hope things are improving for you, unlikely for a few weeks to be honest but we live in hope.

Don’t forget to talk to your Doctor about the lack of eating, its important you get your nutriants. Many people do stuggle in the first few weeks and can drop a fair bit of weight off but it stabilises. I was doing some research and the median weight loss for 48 weeks is only 9% so its not too bad.

To be honest I was expecting my 40’s to be about supermodels, sports cars and speedboats rather than worrying about you eating enough :) Make sure the Docs are on top of things to save me worry ;)
