Hep C Treatment - Week Three

hep c treatmentAnd so on and so forth….

Not a lot different from week two if truth be told. Have felt a little rougher and a little more tired with probably the main difference being that concentration seems more difficult. I was trying to work out on the Monday what the date would be on the Friday but without success, seems that my brain my have shut down some higher maths functions, good excuse to hand if I forget to pay any bills :)

Interferon injection went smoothly, went a little lower this time with the insertion point just to add a little variety to the procedure. The site of the first injection is still very slightly red and last weeks is in full force. The slight worry becomes that you will run out of injection sites but despite having a body not dissimilar to Michelangelo’s David [with a little more down below :)] life is currently blessing me with a larger that average stomach, so plenty of area to stab at.

    Hi,
I think you will find in polite company it’s called the ‘roof over the tool shed’ As to running out of injection sites, don’t worry, use your tummy like a clock face. You will find there is plenty of room. Do not use your arms, but top of the thighs is fine.

Just checking in, trooper. You seem to be shaping up fine. The secret is to know when to bow to the treatment and when to push through.
And don`t do too much on good days, in case you exhaust all that viral ass kicking energy.
Remember even when you are sitting still your body is working overtime.

    Paul.

    Thanks people!

Carol could we settle on “awning over the tool shed”, sounds better than a full roof :)

Very good advice OC, thank you [I’m not much used to bowing though but I’ll try].

    Hi,
I just need someone to talk to … I just had mv liver biospy last week and getting ready to start my treatments. I have no idea what to expect, from what i hear it really scares me. Its hard to talk to anybody about what i am going threw cause no one truley understands & that why i always read these blogg’s.. It help me understand!

    Hi Kelli.

It all seems scarey at the start but there are a lot of places on the Internet with useful information, just make sure that you look at plenty of sources and get a broad view and don’t take everything as the 100% truth. To be perfectly honest in the short term getting more information can be a little upsetting, it makes you think of things that you would really rather not. Don’t worry that will soon pass and armed with information you can better fight the virus.

If you feel a little isolated it may be worth checking out some of the discussion forums out there, it will enable you to connect with others in a similar situation.

http://www.ronmetcalfe.com/hepcforum/ is very good especially if you are based in the UK, check it out.

Some people have a very easy time in treatment, some a very rough one, most fall somewhere in the middle. It can be a bit rough but its not the end of the world. Main thing is to go in there with a positive attitude, show that hep c virus who is the boss.

Any idea when you are likely to start treatment?
