Thanks to everyone. I have 6 weeks left a of 72 week treatment and just now got the rash. I've been thinking of stoping short because of the discomfort but after reading and hearing everyone's experience with the rash, I'm thinking I can stick it out. I applied the Gold Bond this morning and I am experiencing relief.

Hi guys, really helpful to read yr blogs. I am a failed responder to Pegatron, currently on Pegasy. 1st round, had to decrease the accursed riba due to low hemoglobin. Rash & itch nothing like as severe as I am having now.

Face, arms, neck most of body covered in blistering lesions, I walk around with my backscratcher. 1st mon of treatment, I seriously thought I was given placebo (except I was paying ) Woke up on 32nd nite with severe itching---downhill from there. Also freezing cold.

I have a compound i have used for years for itch associated w/ cirrhosis. Wonderdrug but only meant for minimum use.
LIDO7%MENT.75 BETAME.1%CREAM My Dr has me on HYDROCORTISONE 2.5%---Gold Bond just as effective. Glaxal base, not bad (ask yr pharmacist)

Does anyone have swollen hands, arms legs & feet???/ Gonna be a problem getting weekly bloodwork--taking 2 techs & lotsa practise.

Good to know there is someone else out there, thanks for listening.

P.S. Magnesium good for muscle cramps.

Itching in the eyes still there when I go outside, but I fear taking ANY allergy pills because last time I took one for the first time - Claratin, I felt so weird, like I need to take Ginko Biloba or something. I'll never take that one again. So I am skepticle about taking any of them now. I do flush the eyes with saline solution when I get home. That seems to help eventually if I stay indoors. I live in what (it is thought) the Indians referred to as the valley of sickness and death. I'm originally from SOCAL and NO allergies at all there until I moved up here in Oregon. Now it's time to ride my bicycle and I don't know about sunscreen. I already have that other stuff on my neck now. If it's not ONE thing, it's ANOTHER. lol

I think I'll go to Walmart and get some of that Gold Bond in the green container. Also I'm going to try Calamine or equivalent in case it may be poison oak which may have gotten chopped up in my mower. THere are so many types of weeds in the backyard too.

I have a rash on my neck. I feel like scratching my skin off. A couple of days ago I mowed the lawn, but also I was riding my bicycle and using Neutrogena 90+ sun screen. It has Avobenzone in it which I heard can cause problems. I also used Baby Magic 50 (Banana Boat). I don't think this was the cause. Doesn't have Paba. Also I used Water Babies 45 (Coppertone) which has no Paba. So I have this very itchy rash and I don't know what it is from - sun, plants, sunscreen, who knows. I just need it to go away.

OMG....nice to know others are feeling the rash (not really...but you know what I mean). It hardly ever stops. I've tried everything except this gold cream. I'm going to get it tomorrow! My itching has caused little scars. It's ridulous, really. Of all the side effects that come with treatment....the itching is by far the worse. I just hope i don't get a staf infection or something. Currently I'm on prescribed anti-itch pills...hydro??? and a prescribed cream. They don't WORK. So much for the dermatologist. Oh well...i better stop bitching about it...because the more i think about it..the more i ITCH!

Worked out by trial&error (and comments from my gastro) I mix up the following.
Roughly equal parts of:
Calamine lotion,
Clotrimazol cream,
Clobetazol cream,
Cetaphil cream,
Germolene (a UK commercial skin wound cream, Clorxhexidine & Phenol),
and half portions of:
Lac-Hydrin lotion
Lidocaine gel
Zinc oxide.

(some-times it's better without the lidocaine)

Dab it on the itchy, dry welts 2 or 3 x per day. Works fast and usually reduces or clears the rash. Lubricate skin throughly with an oatmeal cream, oatmeal and soy, oatmeal and menthol or oatmeal and shea butter, or an aloe vera gel, three or four times or more per day.
Only pure cotton next to the skin. Shower, not too hot nor too frequent, no soap but only an oatmeal shower gel, followed by Aveeno shower oil.
Drink water every chance, but check with your doctor about causing a possible potassium depletion -- may need a supplement.
Anti-hystamine at night.
